Welcome to 91重口 Early Childhood Development

The Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Development is designed to prepare highly-skilled graduates for employment in a variety of early childhood settings, to update and enrich the capacities of those persons presently employed in the child development field, and to prepare students for transfer to a bachelor degree program in child development, education, or related field. Graduates develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to design, implement, assess, and model for others excellent practices informed by Virginia鈥檚 Competencies for Early Childhood Professionals and the National Association for the Education of Young Children Professional Preparation Standards.

Early Childhood Development CREDIT FOR PRIOR LEARNING

91重口 Associate of Applied Science Degree in Early Childhood Development Specialization

Students may earn 91重口 college credit for HLT 135: Child Health and Nutrition if they have earned a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential awarded by the Council for Professional Recognition. To receive credit for prior learning (CPL) for the CDA, the student must:

  • Be enrolled in a 91重口 Early Childhood Development program.
  • Submit their current CDA certificate to the 91重口 Program Head of Early Childhood.
  • Complete and submit the Application for Early Childhood Development Credit for Prior Learning form to the program head of Early Childhood Development.
